The MCS Graphic #2 draws inspiration from the Macuahuitl (“hand-wood”) — a legendary Mesoamerican close-combat weapon used by the Mexica (Aztecs). Crafted from wood and embedded with obsidian blades, it was designed for devastating slashing power, with edges said to be sharper than steel.
This graphic was created in collaboration with Snoke, a Mexican artist who keeps Mesoamerican roots alive. It aims to reimagine what was lost to history after the last known Macuahuitl was destroyed in a fire at the Spanish Royal Armory in 1884.
Through this piece, that legacy is brought back to life — carved into the deck as a modern interpretation of an ancient weapon.
